In 2009 the Federal Government launched the Federal Framework for Indigenous Economic Development intended to direct and align government policies and programs to respond to the current and evolving needs and opportunities of Indigenous communities.  The Alberta LEDAC, formed in June 2013 in response to a call for indications of interest from economic & lands technicians working for Alberta First Nations, was created so that Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) and others can ensure ongoing engagement & continue to enhance programming to meet these needs and opportunities.
